Canoe is one of Atlanta’s legendary dining destinations. Its location on the banks of the Chattahoochee River almost guarantees the restaurant romantic dining status. Certainly, this is an upscale restaurant, with prices that for most will make Canoe a special occasion experience only. However, considering the neighborhood the restaurant is located in, and the dining crowd that seemed to be at least half regulars, Canoe serves as almost a “private club” for Atlanta’s moneyed set.
Chef Carvel Grant Gould briefly left Canoe to head up Che, the now defunct rum and tapas bar in Buckhead. She’s since returned to Canoe, and seems happy to be back at home and still makes delicious food. You may get a chance to see her circling through the crowd at chatting with her regulars.
